Outside Management was launched in spring 2007 following the merger of the Outside Music Label with the Baudelaire Label and its sister company, Middle Child Music. Our goal was to create a division that fully complements the activities of the Outside Music Label and Outside Music Distribution, by adding the essential component of artist management.

Outside Management is headed by Baudelaire/MCM’s founder Evan Newman, whose experience, taste, judgment and years of experience bring a wealth of wisdom to Outside artists.

Sunparlour Players - The newest addition to the Outside roster, the Sunparlour Players join us with a wealth of live experience and a killer album in "Hymns for The Happy" which saw a national release on September 25th. SPP were formed in Southwestern Ontario by Andrew Penner and have become renowned for their intense live performances or, as some may say, rock and roll sermons. (www.sunparlourplayers.com)

Jill Barber - Jill Barber's albums have been nominated for over 15 awards with 9 alone in 2007, 4 East Coast Music Awards, 5 Music Nova Scotia Awards and 2 Juno nominations including Best New Artist. Since the release of her debut LP "For All Time", Jill has criss-crossed the globe playing to sold out audiences in London, Dublin, Glasgow, Los Angeles and in her native Canada. For All Time features members of Blue Rodeo, Sarah McLachlan, Feist, Justin Rutledge and her brother and label-mate Matthew Barber. She has played with Ron Sexsmith, Joel Plaskett, Nellie Mackay and Kris Kristofferson who told a sold out arena, "Jill Barber is a real songwriter…a damn good songwriter". Jill has been voted Best Female Artist in The Coast Magazine’s Readers’ Poll four years in a row. Her new album Chances, a lushly arranged collection of romantic new songs, comes out October 14 on Outside Music. (www.jillbarber.com)

Paul Aucoin/The Hylozoists - Composer/percussionist/engineer/producer Paul Aucoin has a glowing resume that includes recording or producing acts like Laura Barrett, Cursed, The Diableros, the Golden Dogs and many more. The Halifax native’s film work includes his score for Sara St Onge’s short film, The Funeral, which was screened at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and its follow-up, Lobotomobile, screened at the Toronto International Film Festival this year. Paul's twin passions for indie rock and more formal composition came together with his nine-piece instrumental band, The Hylozoists, and their extraordinary 2001 debut, La Nouvelle Gauche, and its gorgeous and expansive follow-up, La Fin Du Monde, recorded upon Paul’s relocation to Toronto in 2004. Aucoin’s deal with Outside Music will also see the label release a new Hylozoists album in early 2009. Paul is an A-list vibraphonist and go-to collaborator for the most respected and cutting edge artists in Canada’s alternative music scene, writing and performing with members of The Sadies, The Weakerthans, The Deadly Snakes, The Heavy Blinkers, Broken Social Scene, FemBots, Cuff the Duke, Sloan, Tricky Woo, Arcade Fire and The Hidden Cameras. He has scored and produced music for theatre and has licensed music to numerous television productions and films. (www.thehylozoists.com)
